Lynda is retiring from sculpting but continuing her art with painting (paintings aren't as heavy to carry as bronze!). You can see her paintings, sculptures and jewelry at www.LyndaSappington.com
Testimonial from a Workshop Student
Poodle mix dog at left, portrait glass bead by Vicki Schneider at right. Bead is 1" tall.
I received this wonderful letter from glass artist Vicki Schneider, who took a private workshop from me a few years ago. It was quite difficult for her, as a glass artist, to work in clay, but I had neither the knowledge or the tools to work in glass with her. She needed help on anatomy. As you can see from this photo, she's conquered this problem! Here's her letter:
I hope you are well and creating lots of lovely sculptures.
Every time I sculpt a dog at the torch, I think of you and am grateful for the help you gave me. www.beadingtimes.com just featured me as their “Artist of the Month.” Take a look if you get a chance. I’m told it’s interesting reading.
Here’s a picture of my favorite miniature portrait in glass. It stands about 1” tall. Couldn’t have done it without you.
Expressively yours,
Vicki

Life-size Bronze Unveiling and Dedication
On June 23, 2012, the life-size bronze, "Nanning 374: Spirit of the Friesian" was dedicated at Fenway Farms, Hortwonville WI. You can see pictures from the dedication here: Unveiling the Life-size Bronze. The farm is not open to the public, but you can contact them to make an appointment to see the bronze if you're up that way. http://www.fenwayfoundation.com/
In other Nanning life-size news, a casting of this piece was purchased as a birthday present! It was installed in central Ohio July 15, 2013, and somehow the giver managed to keep it a secret from the person receiving the gift. If you're heading toward central Ohio and would like to see it, contact me and I'll give you directions.

Stolen Art
"Feather" on the left above, is a small bronze and was probably stuffed in a pocket or purse when it was stolen from a gallery in Kettering OH in November 2012. It is marked "AP" (for "Artist's Proof") near my name. If you see this in a home or a shop, please call the police.
"Windswept," in the center, is a bronze that was stolen from the FHANA headquarters where it was on loan.
"Fascination," on the right, was stolen in Palm Beach Florida. It's marked "#4." Again, call the police if you see it. Whoever has it, got it illegally.
I have one GOOD "Stolen Art" story to tell - "Elegance" (the carriage piece) was stolen in shipping in southern Ohio. Somehow it wound up on Ebay and I saw it. I demanded its return and it's safe and sound now. Thank goodness for the Google Alert I keep on my name! That's how I found it.
