"Feather"

Bronze. S/N Limited Edition of 20. $1200 plus s/h
Choice of Bay or Silver patinas
7 3/4" high x 8 3/4" long x 4 1/4" wide
While I do try to have one or two pieces in stock, please allow up to 4 months for casting in case I'm sold out.
"Feather" can be mounted on a base to be a trophy. Ask for pricing.

I also ordered a patina-ready bronze (no patina) which I am using to make the wings for the Pegasus version of "Feather". Just FYI, here's what a bronze with no patina looks like. Don't fall in love with the color - it will darken over time and really needs patina to bring out the beauty and detail of the sculpture. I will post a price for the Pegasus version when I know what it will be.

Here's a history of "Feather" and "work in progress" photos, in case you're interested.
"Feather" was started at the Friesian Extravaganza in late October 2007. I continued working on him at Equine Affaire in West Springfield, Mass. in early November, but I had two commissions to work on, so he got set aside along with all the others on the "Work in Progress " page until the commissions were done. When those commissions were finished (see "Just for Fun" and "What's Next?"), I completed Feather.
I started to make a horse the size of "Maestoso" to perhaps be bookends with him - this one's head is turned the opposite direction of "Maestoso's." But then I got bored and said "it's just another horse" (I'd started it with no real plan in mind, because I just didn't have time to plan a piece at the time). Then I thought, "It isn't his shoulder that itches" (which is why his head is turned around and his right hind foot is lifted - he can't decide which one to use to scratch the itch). "It's his WINGPIT that itches!" So I added wings and got excited about the piece! I made him with wings to start with (see below) but after four attempts at a strong wing armature (which involved cutting him apart every time I tried something else), I decided the wings were going to vibrate too much in shipping the piece to the foundry, so I did him as an Andalusian stallion first, and will sculpt separate wings for him later, which will be welded to the bronze. I will come up with a different name for the winged version before I start selling it.
Here's the stallion:

Here's how he started out:
