Welcome! The 2008 show features the work of the members of the Equine Art Guild. The 2009 snow is open to any artists who wish to enter (see the Prospectus for information on the 2009 show).
Following is a list of the winners of each division of our 2008 show: Drawing: First Place, "Adjustments" by Linda Shantz; Second Place, "Spring Snow" by Barbara Widmann; Honorable Mention, "Strawberry in his Stall" by Barbara Widmann. Painting: First Place, "All Ears" by Alecia Underhill; Second Place, "Morning's First Light" by Barbara Widmann; Honorable Mention, "Blue Eye" by Carol Hendrix And - drum roll, please!!! Best in Show: "Paddock Sun" by Alecia Underhill. Congrats to all of you! It was tough to choose which pieces to place where, they were all so wonderful! You can see all the art in the show as well as art by the show's jurors, at Dancing Horse Farm Equine Art Show. Many thanks to Pat Getha for setting up this virtual gallery and hosting it on her site!

Following are photos of the show, which was held in the conference room over Barn 1 at Dancing Horse Farm.

The final picture arrangement was a bit different than this - these photos were taken before Elin Pendleton's painting arrived. Pat Getha's photograph, "The Lady's Hands" was put on the right end wall next to Carol Hendrix's "Black Arab Study" so those were the first things you saw when you came up the stairs. Elin's painting was put on the far left end wall panel with Pat's other paintings. I kept the juror's work separate from the entries, and each piece had a tag showing the painting's name and medium, the artist's name and where they were from, and the jurors had "Juror" noted on those cards as well.

Here are some pictures giving a better overview of how it looked:

This number of paintings was a good one for this size venue, but we could take more in future shows if they're not too big. The panels they're hung on were the back walls of my old trade fair booth - they're carpet covered 4x8 2" thick styrofoam panels with steel angle irons on the back for support (so they wouldn't warp). In this venue, it works best to sit them on chairs, which gets the art to the right height for viewing and doesn't cause any damage to the room where the show is mounted. The light area to the left in the photo showing Pat Getha's work is the window, which runs across the front of the room. The box-like thing behind the sculpture table is the wall of the staircase. I hope you enjoyed seeing how the show was set up! See you at next year's show!
