"Tolt" is my newest work in progress, a commissioned portrait of an Icelandic mare with her owner riding her. This piece is 1/4 life-sized (about 25" high by 28" long, IIRC), the largest full-bodied horse I've made so far. I've chosen to use a different kind of armature for it in the hopes that it will be stronger and more secure when it's shipped to the foundry in Oregon. You can watch the progress of this piece on my blog, Lynda Sappington on Writing and Art

Above photo shows progress as of May 11, 2010. The rider is about 1/3 done. More pics of her later.
Following are progress photos of the piece. More complete progress info is on my blog.

The toothpicks mark the depth I need to make the clay in the early pics, and where the joints and eyeballs are in the latter pictures. I measure bone to bone for accuracy and use a caliper to make sure I'm getting the measurements right.
"Tolt" will be available as a limited edition bronze on a walnut base. Since this is a commission, there will be no pre-casting special price available. Retail price will be posted when the piece goes to the foundry to be cast.
